East Fremantle have jumped to second on the WAFL ladder with a stunning 64 point win over East Perth at East Fremantle Oval.

Max Duffy starred in the Sharks third straight win, with the eccentric forward kicking a career-high five goals, as the Sharks thrashed the Royals 20.16 (136) to 10.12 (72).

East Fremantle held East Perth goalless in the first term as both sides started slowly, before Brad Dick opened the scoring with a goal in the sixth minute.

East Perth struggled to move the ball into their forward fifty and when they did they squandered their opportunities.

Two goals to Duffy in the second term helped East Fremantle extend their lead to 33 points at half time, as Zac Clarke and Anthony Kyanga were well held by Tom Howlett and Kieran King respectively.

Clarke’s impact was barely noticeable as Howlett beat the Fremantle Ruckman time and time again despite the noticeable height difference.

East Perth managed to capture some momentum at the start of the third term and reduced the margin to 24 points.

The Sharks kicked the next three goals, with Brock O’Brien kicking his third for the game, as the margin ballooned to 44.

Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls kicked a late goal; his second for the quarter, to reduce the margin but a Max Duffy special re-established the Sharks 44 point lead going into the final term.

Duffy kicked the first of the last term for East Fremantle as the Sharks ran rampant, the lead blowing out to 70 points when Bradd Dalziell kicked his third goal late in the game.

A late consolation goal to Josh Smith reduced the final margin to 64 points but the loss sees East Perth slip to fourth on the ladder.

Mark McGough, Rory O’Brien and Richard Hadley were again influential through the Sharks midfield, while Dalziell was the standout in his return to league football with 28 disposals and three goals.
