16s Squad Match Report vs Swan Districts
The 16s Development squad had their final fixture against Swan Districts on Tuesday morning in which was a great display of football. Both sides had their selected State 16s players out which enabled the other players of both squads to step up and perform.
The Sharks started off the game well with ruckman Jaidyn Atkinson feeding the ball to his followers in Charlie McCormack and Conor McPartland resulting in goals to Tom Wallis and Joshua Goodwin. The Sharks were quite accurate in front of the goals scoring 5 goals to Swans 1 goal 1 behind. The Sharks moved the ball quickly and found ways to clear the ball.
The second quarter again saw our boys work really well as a team, with fast ball movement and using their run and carry. There were a few missed opportunities and turnovers which allowed the Swans to kick a few scores. Hayden Redmond work tirelessly in the middle and Chad warner laid some great tackles to hold up the Swans.
After half time our boys lost a bit of momentum and missed shots on goal which enabled the Swans to gain a bit on the score board. Mid-West boys Angus Wood and Atten Mason played some really smart football in close which provided goals for Alex Crowe and Thomas Johnston. Ben Wardle was excellent down back and may have just found his niche.
The final quarter saw the Sharks hit the straps and pull away from the swans, with some smart football and some great run and carry from Leroy Pigram and Tom Denton. The Sharks managed to hold the Swans to 1 goal 1 behind and score 2 goals 4 behinds for ourselves. The Sharks finished the game 30 point winners in their final game. Both sides showed some great talent coming through their respective squads which is great to see.
