Round 14 Preview // Peel
Boosted by last week’s win, the Sharks take on a strong Peel Thunder side at East Fremantle Oval tomorrow, 2.15pm.
The teams have already met this year in Round 2, where Peel dominated at their home ground. With a score to settle and heightened by their first win, the Sharks are set to challenge the reigning premiers and notch win number two.
The coaching staff made few changes to last week’s winning formula, with Josef Hebiton, Ambrose Ryan, Cam Symonds and Dylan Winton coming into the 25.
If selected, Ambrose Ryan will be the club’s 17th debutant for season 2017. Ryan came through the Shark’s development pathway and has been a part of the colt’s side since 2015.
During the week, the Sharks were dealt another injury blow with talented defender, Ryan Lester-Smith ruled out of the rest of the 2017 season with a damaged ACL.
Peel are coming off the bye and will be boosted with up to seven AFL listed players, proving a tough task for the young East Fremantle side.
Both the Development League and Colts will be looking to bounce back from disappointing losses to Perth last week. As the League struggles with injuries, the Development League continues to feel the pressure too, but need a win to keep their finals hopes alive.
It’s a battle of first and second in the Colts, with East Fremantle currently one game ahead of Peel.
