WA Day Derby Preview
After an exciting win over Peel, East Fremantle now turn their attention to port rivals, South Fremantle ahead of the WA Day Derby.
The Bulldogs have prevailed in recent encounters but bolstered by last week’s win, the Sharks go in with some confidence. Having showed grit that had been missing from their earlier games, the coaching staff have asked the players to wear their heart on their sleeve and dig deep against the derby rivals.
There were few changes to this week’s line up with James Bristow, Ben Harding, Jayden Schofield and Chris Scott coming into the extended squad.
George Hampson will line up for his 100th WAFL game this Monday. Hampson joined the Sharks from Subiaco, where he was not only a Best and Fairest winner but also a premiership player. Since joining the Sharks, he has continually shown his class and poise on the field. Whether that's playing through the midfield or up forward, he has been a standout player in the competition. Last week Hampson was recognised as the WAFL player of the Round, having finished with 38 disposals, 13 tackles and a goal.
The Development League will also be looking to back up last week’s exciting win. With the return of more senior players, the depth of the side will give the boys some confidence against South Fremantle.
The colts are hoping to bounce back and return to the winner’s circle after a disappointing loss to Peel last week. If selected in the final side, Chad Warner could be the colts’ 44th player this year.
