Henson hangs up the boots
East Fremantle Football Club stalwart, Sean Henson, announced his retirement from WAFL Football, effective immediately, due to increased work commitments.
The hard-running winger, who runs his own successful lawn mowing business, Jim’s Mowing East Willetton, established himself as a player of the future in the 2010 Colts Grand Final. Henson had 21 touches, 7 Inside 50’s and kicked 3.3 to guide the Sharks to a Colts premiership.
An ankle injury hampered his 2011 season before Henson burst onto the Senior scene with a breakout first season in 2012. Winner of the WAFL Rising Star, he played 21 games, including the 2012 WAFL Grand Final loss to Claremont. Henson averaged 20 possessions and kicked 16 goals for the season, winning the 2012 Foundation Day Medal and East Fremantle’s Best First year player.
Over the next 7 seasons, Henson became a staple on the wing, playing 118 games, kicking 58 goals and averaging 18 possessions.
“I’m extremely thankful to the East Fremantle Football Club for giving me the opportunity to play WAFL Football. The club has been a huge part of my life, from watching my brother play, to now finishing my career at the age of 27,” Henson said.
“Thanks to all the Coaches, Support Staff, Directors and supporters who have helped me along the way. I will always look back fondly at my time at East Fremantle and will continue to follow and support the club going forward. I have made many great friends through football and urge my team mates to make the most of their time at the Club.”
The East Fremantle Football Club would like to congratulate and thank Sean for his dedication, effort and sacrifice over his career. All the best, Henno!
