Reserves defeat Royals in Elimination Final
East Fremantle’s Reserves side produced a fantastic win against East Perth on Saturday in the Elimination Final.
It was a tight contest, until the Sharks managed to break away early in the fourth term, cementing a 45-point win and a spot in the first Semi Final.
Corey Holmes and Max Murphy got the Sharks on the board in the opening term, but the Royals matched it, taking a one-point lead into the first break. Tim Bockman went down with an ankle injury and failed to return to the game, leaving the blue and white’s a player down early.
Sean Fletcher, Cody Smith, Jack Perham and Corey Holmes peppered the goals in the second, giving the Sharks a 7-point advantage at the main break.
The Royals came out firing and goaled in the opening minutes of the third. However, East Fremantle were quick to respond and the see-saw battle continued. Perham added two goals to his tally, while Bonomelli and Adamini both goaled to put the Sharks 12-points ahead at the final break.
It was all East Fremantle in the final term with Perham kicking four goals to finish with seven for the day. Murphy added two more majors and Holmes one, finishing with 3 goals apiece.
Our backline with Josef Hebiton, Josh Cuneo, Harry Creasey, Andrew Trefry, Cameron Davidson and James Harrold stood valiant all day.
Jesse Adamini, Matthew Burton and Corey Robinson worked hard in the midfield, while the ruck duo of Andrew Stokes and Brynn Teakle stepped up in the absence of Nic Watson.
It was a huge team effort from the boys which will see them playing Subiaco in the first semi-final next Sunday at 11:20am.
