The Sharks Welcome Durak Tucker

Friday, November 1, 2019 - 1:19 PM

The East Fremantle Football Club are excited to announce the signing of Durak Tucker for the next 2 seasons.

Tucker, 19, was drafted to the Sydney Swans in the 2018 Rookie Draft from Peel Thunder. A member of the State U18 team as an underager, Tucker missed most of his draft year after undergoing a knee reconstruction. Despite not playing, Tucker was invited to the National Combine and found his way onto Swan’s list. Unfortunately, his time at Sydney was cut short by a hamstring tendon injury, but he arrives at East Fremantle with a fierce desire to get back out on the park and play some good football.

Football Operations Manager, Brad Dodd, knows Tucker well, having coached him in the Colts at Peel.

“Durak provides us with flexibility in our back 7. He can play tall and small, is fiercely competitive and has the speed and strength to match it with the competitions dangerous forwards. He’s coming off the disappointment of being delisted by Sydney and is chomping at the bit to get back out there and play some good football.”

Tucker, who has moved to East Fremantle, said he is looking forward to getting to work under experienced coach, Bill Monaghan.

“I was really impressed when I met with Bill and Doddy. They outlined the work they’ve done in the time they’ve been there, what they expect from the team in 2020 and where I fit in with it all. Bill has shown he is able to get the best out of his young players and I’m looking forward to playing under him. I’m really excited to get into pre-season, get to know my new teammates and coaches and play some great football for East Fremantle.”

While the past 2 seasons haven’t gone to plan for Tucker, he hasn’t let the time on the sidelines go to waste.

"The last 2 years have been frustrating personally but has allowed me to reflect and learn about the game and myself as a person. I’ve used the time to fast track my strength and feel that it is now at the level it needs to be as a defender.”

Welcome to the club, Durak!
