Vale Jim Hurst
By Ron Alexander
Jim Hurst was a successful and outstanding team manager at East Fremantle from 1983 until 1985.
EFFC participated in the finals in all 4 years including 3 Grand Finals.
He was also the West Coast Eagles Inaugural team manager in 1986/87 and of several WA State sides.
All those who worked with Jim cherished every moment with him.
A man of integrity who gave great Information, direction and support to all those he interacted with.
He was knowledgeable, encouraging, creative and super organised.
I would discuss football tactics and strategies with the players one evening and the next training session he would’ve prepared typed up notes for all the players and coaches.
Many players and coaches still have these notes today in their coaching files and memoirs.
Much of the success at EFFC and the WCE can be attributed to Jim.
His knowledge, experience and encouragement was shared generously with all he came in contact with.
His creativity and positivity helped set the tone and a high standard for our team.
Jim I learned so much from you that there will always be a part of you that travels with me.
Jim was particularly loved by the players and coaches of the day and will be greatly missed.
Sincere Condolences to Carol and the 4 Girls and all your family.
