SHARKS SHOW PRE-SEASON FORM
League - East Fremantle v Claremont Tigers @ New Choice Homes Park
The East Fremantle Sharks completed their first pre-season fixture on Saturday, falling just short of a strong Claremont Tigers side 7.11 (53) to 9.5 (59).
It was an impressive performance from the Sharks, who lost by under a goal despite having more scoring shots and winning three out of four quarters.
One of the most impressive parts about the East Fremantle performance was their ball movement, and their ability to transition from defence to attack. The Sharks managed to keep the ball inside their forward half for long periods of time which would have impressed coach Bill Monaghan, who mentioned on radio last week he was hoping that the side can push for an top 4 spot this season.
Lachlan Bailey, playing in attack after spending most of last season in defence, kicked two goals and provided a strong focal point. Bailey will be looking to add to his 17 senior appearances when the side takes on South Fremantle in round one and on current form is a certainty to add to his two career league goals.
Cameron Loersch also started his season well, kicking two goals and taking a number of strong contested marks up forward early on while Michael Tassone kicked two majors as well.
Nick Kommer, Tom Bennett and Cam Eardley continued on from their stellar 2019 form in the middle of the ground while skipper Jonathon Griffin won the ruck contest comprehensively while leading the side well.
This weekend the Sharks take on last years premiers, Subiaco, at New Choice Homes Park in the last pre-season fixture before round 1. Bill Monaghan will be hoping his side can continue their good early season form and continue to build match fitness heading towards round one against the Bulldogs.

PRE-SEASON FIXTURE #1 - MATCH REPORT
Reserves - East Fremantle v Claremont Tigers @ New Choice Homes Park
It was a solid start to the season for the East Fremantle Reserves on Saturday, comprehensively defeating the Claremont Tigers 15.8 (98) to 11.4 (70).
The Sharks reserves led at every break and never looked like conceding the lead, finishing the match as 28 point winners.
It was an impressive display from the young side, boosted by the addition of Cody Leggett, who was impressive on debut.
Nicholas Bonomelli was a standout in to forward line, a performance which senior Coach Bill Monaghan would have been impressed by. The tall took several contested marks and impacted the scoreboard multiple times as he staked his claims to line up in the league side in this Saturday’s final pre-season fixture.
Cody Smith was solid in the middle of the ground as he looks to press for a maiden league appearance. The midfielder took a number of strong marks and was classy in and around the stoppages to catch the eyes of the East Fremantle crowd.
Next week the East Fremantle reserves will take on Subiaco’s reserves at New Choice Homes Park in the final pre-season fixture. This will be the final pre-season fixture for the seconds side before round 1 when they take on the South Fremantle Bulldogs.
