Historic WAFLW Derby
History will be made this Sunday when the Sharks travel to Fremantle Community Bank Oval to take on South Fremantle in the first WAFLW Derby.
Taking out the inaugural WAFLW Premiership in 2019 and the 2018 WAWFL premiership, the stakes are high as the Sharks look to make it a threepeat.
East Fremantle dominated the 2019 finals series, defeating minor premiers Subiaco before registering a 33-point victory against Swan Districts in the Grand Final.
Nikki Harwood again takes the reins of Senior Coach with a resume second to none, having coached multiple state teams, AFLW sides as well as key roles within the men’s WAFL system.
The Sharks will be without the experience of their AFLW players, but the likes of their joint reigning best and fairest Sharon Wong, will lead from the front.
This will be the first ever game for the South Fremantle WAFL Women’s side, after they were granted a licence to compete in the expanded season this year.
Wishing the Sharks the best of luck this weekend!
