Durak to Debut against Perth
Durak Tucker is set to make his long-awaited debut for the Sharks this Saturday at New Choice Homes Park against Perth.
Tucker had his first hitout in the Reserves a fortnight ago, 846 days since his last game of footy. It has a been a tough journey for the youngster, with a torn ACL and hamstring tendon side-lining him for two years.
Football Operations Manager, Brad Dodd, knows Tucker well, having coached him in the Colts at Peel.
“Durak provides us with flexibility in our back 7. He can play tall and small, is fiercely competitive and has the speed and strength to match it with the competition’s dangerous forwards,” Dodd said.
“He’s coming off the disappointment of being delisted by Sydney and is chomping at the bit to get back out there and play some good football.”
Captain Jonathon Griffin will line up for his 100th WAFL game and Luke Strnadica for his 50th in the WAFL. Having both been on the list for the Fremantle Dockers, they spent time at alignment club Peel Thunder, before returning to the Sharks in 2017 and 2018.
East Fremantle are on the hunt to return to the winner’s circle, after a disappointing performance against the Royals last week.
The two teams have enjoyed a competitive rivalry in recent years, but it will be East Fremantle looking to capitalise on the home ground advantage, with Perth’s last win at Shark Park coming in 2009.
There are a few forced changes to the side with Nick Kommer and Cameron Davidson injured last week.
Alex Montauban returns to the Senior side, playing his first game for the season.
After a poor performance against the Royals, our Reserves will be looking to respond against Perth. Ambrose Ryan returns to playing after missing the previous two games with injury.
Our Colts will look to make it two in a row after last week’s maiden win. Keanu Haddow, Jack Carroll, Jed Hagan, Finn Gorringe and Brandon Walker will be looking to continue their recent good form.
