This Saturday the Sharks are hosting Ladies Day at East Fremantle, with Champagne Brunch prior to the West Perth match. As we celebrate women involved in all areas of football, including as club staff, sponsors, wives and mothers, we take a closer look at the women on the 'front line' of footy- the players.

The East Fremantle Women's Team was formed in 1988 under Melville Women’s Football Club, becoming the East Fremantle Sharks 20 years later in 2008. The club has won 6 premierships; 1990, 1991, 2003, 2007, 2009, 2011 and were runners up in 2012. Player development is a strong focus of the club and key area of success: there are currently 10 East Fremantle players in the WA State Squad, with another 3 in the Under 18s State Team.

The WAWFL celebrated it's 25th Anniversary last year. The innaugural competition involved 4 teams, in the 2013 competition there are 9 clubs competing in both a premier and reserves competition.
