Sharks Celebrate Harmony Day on Saturday 28th March
The East Fremantle Football Club are celebrating Harmony Day this Saturday, 28th March, during their Round 2 match vs Subiaco.
The celebrations began months ago, when the Sharks asked local school students to design a Harmony Day Flag for the Club. The club received over 100 entries and selected 6 finalists, who will attend the game on Saturday and fly their flags at quarter time, before the presentation to the winner by the Minister of Multicultural Interests, the Hon Mike Nahan. Keep an eye on our facebook page this week www.facebook.com/eastfremantlefc to see all the finalists' entries.
The Sharks also welcome the Yaolin Kung Fu Association who will entertain the crowd with their Chinese Lion Dance before the game, along with African Music Circles, who will perform at half time and get the kids involved in an interactive drumming circle. We're also very pleased to welcome Tani Walker back to Shark Park. Tani will perform in the President's Lunch and after the game. In 2013, Tani (Tanya) wrote a fantastic song called 'In her Shoes' for Harmony Day, which she will perform on Saturday.
There will be a jumping castle and footy activities for kids on the hill, and our international food hall will be running again, thanks to Delaware North. Choose from Chinese, Malaysian, Italian and German food, along with the usual footy fare.
The East Fremantle Football Club is committed to ensuring that everyone feels welcome at Sharks games, and we encourage everyone to join us for Harmony Day, whether it's for your first WAFL match, or your 400th, Sharks CEO Todd Shimmon said. "The Club was delighted with the feedback from last year’s Harmony Day. We hope to continue celebrating the day as an annual event to start the WAFL season at ATOM Stadium."
