Sharks take on the Bulldogs in Monday's ANZAC Day Derby

On Monday the 27th of April East Fremantle and South Fremantle compete for the ANZAC Day Cup at Fremantle Oval. It's the 369th Fremantle Derby and it's set to be an electrifying match. The Sharks are in good form, having recorded their second successive win last week against Swan Districts. The Sharks outplayed the Swans from start to finish to end up winning 16.7 (103) to the Swans 10.12. (72).  East Fremantle are now sitting at 3 wins and 2 losses for the 2015 season and in 3rd place on the WAFL ladder.

South Fremantle are also sitting in the top 4 with 3 wins and 2 losses this season however the Bulldogs are out of form after winning their first 3 games of the season they have lost their last 2, last week losing convincingly 10.8. (68) to Subiaco’s  24.13 (157). Both sides have named large squads for this week's game with no outs for either side at this stage . The Sharks include Jack Fletcher, Aaron Holmes, Julian Locantro, and Andrew Stokes into the squad, all listed on an extended bench. South Fremantle have added Shaun Bewick, Simon Panizza, Traye Bennell, Christopher Luff, Adam Carter, and Jacob Dragovich into their squad of 28 players. The Bulldogs have added some talent to their list this season with former AFL pair Cory Del-Ollio from Essendon and Blayne Wilson from the Eagles adding strength to South Fremantle's lineup. An area to look out for on Monday will be the high quality midfield battle, the Bulldogs have played former Eagle Ashton Hams in the midfield recently and Hams has worked well alongside the in-form Jarrod Parry. They will be tested this week agaisnt the Sharks strong midfield group including Sandover Medallist Rory O'Brien and former AFL listed players Jamie McNamara and Liam Anthony. 

The last time these rivals met was round 19 of the 2014 season at ATOM Stadium where the Bulldogs won 16.12 (108) to the Sharks 9. 11 (65). This was the 8th game in a row between these two teams where the away team won. Monday’s game is set to be one of the matches of the round with both sides sitting in the top 4 and looking to maintain that spot for at least another week. Monday's Derby will be broadcast on Channel 7, so if you can’t make it to the game tune into Channel 7 on Monday to catch the action.

The Sharks Development League side is coming off their second loss in a row last week by just 6 points to Swan Districts. The Sharks 10.4. (74) lost to Swan Districts 11.14. (80) and with that loss now sit 8th on the ladder with just one win and 4 losses so far this season. They could be in for a tough encounter this week coming up against a red hot South Fremantle side sitting on top of the ladder having won all 5 games this season, last week by 34 points over Subiaco. This week's game starts at 11:45 am on Monday the 27th of April at Fremantle Oval.

The Sharks Colts side is sitting 4th on the ladder with 3 wins and 2 losses this season with one of those losses at the hands of Swan Districts last weekend going down 9.10. (64) to the Swans 12.4. (76). The Bulldogs Colts side beat Subiaco by 58 points last weekend to record their second win of the season, they sit just below the Sharks in 5th spot on the ladder, adding extra motivation for the Sharks this week to keep the Bulldogs out of the 4. The game will be played on Monday the 27th of April as well starting at 9:15 am at Fremantle Oval.
