The 2015 Original Derby Decider
On Sunday 19th July the East Fremantle Sharks take on the South Fremantle Bulldogs in the deciding match of the 2015 Original Derby series.
The Sharks will be looking for home ground redemption after a 5 point loss to the Bulldogs in Round 10 at ATOM Stadium, while back in April, the Sharks recorded a 17 point win at Fremantle Oval.
The record over the last 10 derbies forms an interesting statistic, with back & forth wins creating a win loss record for East Fremantle of WLWLWLWLWL. East Fremantle will be looking to continue this pattern with a win on Sunday. The teams will compete for the Uittenbroek - Ciccotosto Cup, honouring the contribution of Bob Uittenbroek and Brian Ciccotosto to their repsective Clubs.
The Bulldogs currently sit in 6th on the ladder on 28 points, with just percentage keeping them from 4th position. The Sharks found some form in the early parts of last week’s match against Peel, but have struggled recently to convert opportunities. They sit in 8th position, 2 wins and percentage from the top 5. A win on Sunday would keep the Sharks finals hopes alive.
The Sharks went in to last week’s game with their 13th debutant for Season 2015, in Jacob Green, and with a season ending ACL tear to Jordan Dorotich in the first quarter, it is possible that we will have a 14th on Sunday, our 6th in 5 games. The Sharks injury woes continue with Andrew Stokes out again with a recurring quad injury, James Bristow and Sean Henson will both undergo fitness tests after sustaining minor injuries in the game.
