Allan EBBS
Allan was yet another of our champions whose career was split by World War II. A fine mark and, during his early years, very fast for a big man, he was definitely an acquisition to the side.
Ebbs’ knocking from the throw-in was one of the outstanding features of his Ruck work, although he was rarely beaten at the bounce. For a big man Ebbs possessed a very quick turn and his ability as a foil for the smaller men of the side was unquestioned. Allan featured in some memorable games including the 1938 drawn Grand Final against Claremont, the 1945 Grand Final win which earned him the Simpson Medal and the Club the Premiership and the successful 1946 Grand Final side following an undefeated season, a most memorable year in which he won the Lynn Medal.
