Merv COWAN (Legend)
Merv was a versatile sportsman who apart from his career at East Fremantle achieved State level in cricket, swimming and water polo.
He was one of our most reliable Back Pocket players with immaculate disposal, his clearing kick almost invariably landing in the arms of the Half Back Flanker. His support of the Fullback was an equally strong component of Merv’s play. Even though Merv enjoyed a strong career at East Fremantle on the field, it is his involvement with the Club after his playing days that has had such a lasting impact. It is true to say he has seen service in just about every facet of our football Club and was awarded WAFC Life Membership for his work for football generally in W.A. He is still called on for advice and constructive comment today in his position as Club Vice Patron.
