East Fremantle Football Club signs MOU with Notre Dame University
The East Fremantle Football Club has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Notre Dame Australia , to provide opportunities for research projects and practicum placements that will benefit both institutions.
Signed on 6 April 2016, at the University’s Fremantle Campus, the purpose of the MoU is to further develop the relationship between both parties and aid in the vital exchange of knowledge, research opportunities, education and learning transfers and practicum placement opportunities.
Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Professor Naomi Trengove, says the partnership will benefit students by allowing them to undertake research opportunities, use East Fremantle’s facilities and build relationships within the club.
“The School has a long-standing relationship with EFFC and our students have been working with the Club at East Fremantle on practicum opportunities for a number of years. The MoU formalises the relationship between the School and the Club.”
“The Club is also able to come on campus for fitness assessments and training opportunities, which will provide opportunities for research and practicum,” Professor Trengrove said.
Todd Shimmon, Chief Executive Officer of the East Fremantle Football Club ‘Sharks’, said he believes the partnership is beneficial to both organisations and will allow students to gain experience in a semi-elite sporting environment.
“The Agreement provides Notre Dame students with valuable practicum hours for students in a semi-elite sporting environment. This agreement will grow as we promote the partnership, with many students gaining valuable on-site experience at a WAFL club,” Mr Shimmon said.
The Memorandum cements an already strong partnership between the parties and paves the way for Notre Dame students to undertake research projects with the East Fremantle Football Club.
