Corey Chalmers Joins the Sharks

Tuesday, November 3, 2020 - 4:23 PM

East Fremantle are delighted to welcome Corey Chalmers to the club.

The clever Forward/Mid comes to the Sharks from West Perth, where he played 82 games, averaging 19 disposals and a goal a match. Twice he has kicked over 20 goals in a season, with his best haul of 5 coming against East Fremantle in 2018.

Football Manager, Brad Dodd gave us his insight on the new arrival.

“Corey is an excellent addition to our squad, not only adding some much-needed experience, but also some creativity to our front half and some depth through our midfield,” Dodd said.

“While Corey has spent most of his career as a forward, we see him spending more time through the Midfield. He’s a smart footballer who sets up scores as well as hits the scoreboard.”

Having not played in season 2020, Chalmers is itching to meet his new team-mates as well as reuniting with Senior Coach, Bill Monaghan and Assistants Craig Smoker and Paul Sanzone.

“There is a great, young playing group here at the Sharks, led well by Matthew Jupp and Jarrad Jansen,” Chalmers said.

“I see great potential here and I think I’ll compliment the current group as well as providing some experience along the way.”

“I’m really excited at the prospect of working with Bill, Smokes and Sanza again, they’ve had a great influence on my career and I look forward to a new journey with them.”

Corey will join the rest of the squad on November 30th, when the 2021 pre-season kicks off.
