Schoenfeld signs with Sharks
The East Fremantle Football Club are excited to announce the signing of Josh Schoenfeld for the next two seasons.
Originally from Rockingham Junior Football Club, Josh has spent the past five seasons at the Gold Coast Suns, where he played 15 AFL games.
Football Manger Brad Dodd said the hard-running midfielder will be a welcomed addition to the Sharks engine room.
“A priority this off-season was to add some running power to our midfield and Josh certainly ticks that box,” Dodd said.
“He spent most of his time at The Suns as a winger, but the past few seasons he’s played inside, mainly at NEAFL level.”
“A strength of his is working from contest to contest, which will complement our current inside mid group nicely.”
Schoenfeld is looking forward to starting pre-season and being part of the Sharks rise up the ladder.
“I can’t wait to get stuck into pre-season and earn the respect of my new team-mates,” Schoenfeld said.
“I’m really looking forward to playing a big role in helping achieve success down at East Fremantle. The club offered me the best opportunity to play my best football and value my strengths as a player.”
“Having spoken at length with Bill Monaghan, I believe we have a similar approach to how we go about our football and achieving success. I’m confident he’ll get the best out of me and I can’t wait to play under him.”
Though Schoenfeld is new to the club, there are plenty of familiar faces.
“I played State 18s alongside Luke Strnadica, Tom Bennett and Jordan Snadden,” Schoenfeld said.
“When I was thinking about the move, I reached out to them and their excitement around the playing group and where they were going certainly played a big role in my decision.”
Schoenfeld marks the third new addition to the squad for 2021, joining Dillon O’Reilly and Corey Chalmers.
