2021 Coaching Panel finalised

Friday, January 22, 2021 - 12:13 PM

East Fremantle have finalised their Senior coaching structure with four key appointments for the 2021 season.

Joe Comande moves into the senior forward line role, taking over from Bradd Dalziell.  Comande spent seven seasons coaching at West Perth and the past two as Opposition and Match Day Assistant for East Fremantle.

Jayden Heuer, Jesse Laurie and Harry Taylor join coach Bradd Dalziell in the Development program.

Heuer steps up into the seniors having spent the past six seasons in the Talent program at Peel Thunder.

Laurie, a two- time Premiership player with Claremont, will work closely with East Fremantle’s developing leaders as well as assume a coaching position with our young defenders. His great grandfather, John ‘Jock’ Laurie won the Sharks first Lynn Medal in 1929 and his granddad Raymond Laurie was known as one of the best half-forwards in the game during his time.

Following his 280 AFL game career with Geelong, Taylor will take charge of the Mid West program, mentor the Senior leaders and work with our talls.

Football Manager, Brad Dodd, is excited about what the new additions can bring.

“We’ve been able to bring in some outstanding individuals who are all driven and committed to seeing our group improve quickly. I’m really excited about our development program and creating a strong learning environment in that space,” Dodd said.

“Joe has been a major part of the coaching group over the past two seasons. He understands clearly what Bill is looking for from his forward line.

“Jesse is a fantastic addition to our coaching team, he played in a successful era at Claremont and was an outstanding leader in his own right. He builds strong relationships and will have a great impact on our developing leaders.

“Jayden is a hard-working coach who again builds strong bonds with the players and will work closely with our developing forwards.

“Based in the Mid West, Harry will help further develop our programs up there - not only through our junior pathway but through the GNFL competition as well. He will work closely with Matthew Jupp and Jarrad Jansen as well as spend time with our young developing talls when he’s down in Perth.”

Head Coach Bill Monaghan leads the Sharks for his third season, alongside senior assistants Craig Smoker (midfield), Paul Sanzone (backs) and Craig Anderson (rotations).
