WA Day Derby | Match Preview
The CLP Legal WA Day Derby has finally arrived as East Fremantle take on South Fremantle at New Choice Homes Park this Monday.
Following last week’s loss to Swan Districts, East Fremantle will need a win before heading into the bye and will no doubt be bringing their best to this WA Day clash against the Bulldogs.
The Sharks will be looking for their first derby win in over four years and will host their first derby in almost two years following the shortened season in 2020.
East Fremantle welcome back Lachlan Bailey, Morgan Davies, Hugh Dixon, Brynn Teakle and Cody Smith into the extended squad for Monday’s game. The addition of Morgan Davies to the side is extremely valuable given the loss of Luke English, who misses the Derby to concussion.
The Bulldogs have won four of their last five fixtures and bring an extremely strong line-up to the Derby despite having lost Matt Parker to Richmond during the week.
The East Fremantle Reserves are coming off a three-game losing streak and will be looking to find some form before the break.
The side welcomes back Alex Montauban, who had missed multiple weeks due to a hand injury, while Sam Collins and Judd McVee get their first taste of Reserves football having been promoted from the Colts.
The side loses Bailey, Drake-Brockman, Marshall, Smith and Teakle from last week's match against the Swans.
The Colts, coming off back-to-back losses by a total margin of 10 points, are just one win off second place and will take on a similarly strong South Fremantle Colts.
Both teams have two wins in their previous four fixtures with the Sharks welcoming Denney, McMillan, Williams and Bartlett to the side for this weekend’s clash.
