Harry's Back! EFFC announce signing of Harry Taylor
HARRY'S BACK!
East Fremantle would like to announce the signing of Harry Taylor to play for the club for the 2021 season.
Taylor returned to WA after retiring at the conclusion of the 2020 AFL Grand Final, having played 280 AFL games for the Geelong Cats. A 2 time Premiership and 2 time All Australian player, Taylor will provide a wealth of experience and knowledge to the young Sharks group. Taking up a role in charge of the East Fremantle Mid West Academy, Taylor has been playing with Northampton in the GNFL where he has kicked 43 goals in 8 games, despite playing in defence in the first 3 games.
Football Manager, Brad Dodd, gave us his insight on the new signing.
“Harry has been an important addition to our Mid West program, where we’ve seen some strong improvement in the kids based in the area. We’ve been monitoring his playing progress in the GNFL and with some long term injuries to some of our key position players, an opportunity arose to bring him back to play at the Sharks. Harry has always been a fantastic ambassador for the club and we’re excited to see him back playing in the Blue and White.”
Taylor, himself, is keen to return to where it all started and help in anyway possible.
“I’m really looking forward to getting out on the field with the boys. I’m keen to help East Fremantle in their push to become a consistently competitive club in the WAFL.”
Taylor has worked closely with captain Matthew Jupp as well as doing some work with the clubs key position players across this season.
“Though I’ve been working in an off field role, the ability to pass on some of my learnings over my 13 years in the AFL in a more on-field capacity really excites me. I’m a competitive person and can’t wait to get back out there and play my part. There’s a lot of talent in the key position stocks at East Fremantle but unfortunately there’s been a few injuries. Hopefully I can fill a gap until the cavalry arrives.”
The East Fremantle Football Club welcomes Harry Taylor back to the fold for season 2021.
