Round 14 | Match Preview

Friday, July 9, 2021 - 3:25 PM
East Fremantle return to New Choice Homes Park this weekend to take on the Peel Thunder in Round 14 of the WAFL Premiership Season.

Following last week’s bye following government restrictions, the side welcomes back former Geelong premiership player Harry Taylor. In what will be a high-profile return, Taylor will run out for his 50th league game in the Blue and White in his first appearance since 2007.

The Sharks have also announced that 17-year-old Corey Warner will make his league debut following a strong of impressive performances in the Colts side. Warner, whose older brother Chad now plays for the Sydney Swans, will be the Sharks fifth debutant this season following maiden league appearances from Reuben Maguire, Finn Gorringe, Cody Smith and Jakob Ah Chee.

Warner has been named on a wing, the same position where he has averaged over 22 disposals, three marks, two tackles and a goal a game.

Football Operations Manager Brad Dodd said “Corey adds some real run and carry to the team, he’s a strong worker from contest to contest and has been able to regularly hit the scoreboard. He’s been in good form for both the Colts and his PSA team and comes in full of confidence”.

The Sharks are currently two games outside the top 5 and will be hoping for their second win against Peel for the season to narrow the gap between themselves and the fifth placed Swans.

The reserves will be up against a winless Peel Thunder this weekend and similarly to the league side, will be looking to close the two-game gap between themselves and the top 5.

The Sharks side includes League players Nic Bonomelli, Jordan Snadden, Durak Tucker, Corey Holmes, Finn Gorringe and Jakob Ah Chee while Peel will have the services of Stephen Hill off half back.

The Colts, who are a game off third position with a game in hand on the rest of the competition, will take on the 8th placed Peel Thunder.
