Round 3 - Reserves Match Day Review
Round 3 - Reserves Match Day Review
After a tight opening half, East Perth ran away with the game in the second half to deliver the East Fremantle Reserves their first loss for the season, defeating them by 54 points on Sunday.
Despite 7 changes from the previous week, the Sharks started brightly in a tight first quarter where the pressure from both sides were high. Jack Norrish was providing a strong target forward and midfielders Tom Marshall, Ethan Paholski and Jye Depane were finding plenty of the ball.
The second quarter was more of the same, with makeshift ruckman Jacob Feist competing well as East Fremantle controlled the stoppages. The Sharks kicked 3 in a row to open up a little break before East Perth responded to leave things all square at the half.
East Perth came out of the blocks in the 3rd quarter, with some sloppy free kicks allowing them to get first use form the centre bounce and they kicked 4 quick goals. East Fremantle could get any ascendency in the middle and found themselves 5 goals down at 3/4 time, having been held scoreless for the quarter.
Any hope of a comeback were snuffed out quickly as East Perth kicked the first 2 goals of the last. In the end, the Royals proved too strong to run out 54 point winners.
Better players for the Sharks were Durak Tucker (22 disposals and 7 marks), Tom Marshall (24 disposals), Jacob Feist (14 disposals, 17 hitouts and 3 clearances) and Jack Norrish (11 disposals, 4 tackles and 2 goals).
The Sharks Reserves now have 2 weeks off and will be looking to bounce back against Perth in Round 5.
