Rd 10 - Colts Wrap Up
The East Fremantle Colts went down to Peel Thunder by 12 points this past Saturday.
A 7 goal final quarter saw the away side erase a three-quarter time deficit and hand the Sharks their third loss in as many weeks.
A dewy first half of footy saw a back and forth contest with neither side able to gain any ascendency. Blake Luxton booted the Sharks opening major through a forward half turnover.
The home side were able to open up an 18 point margin mid-way through the second term however couldn’t stop Peel erasing the margin to under a goal at the main break.
The third was a chaotic quarter with the young Sharks unable to move the ball fluently or take their chances until debutant Luke Urquhart took the direct route home from the top of the 50 before Mid-West product Jack Cocking’s snap from the top of the goal square opened up a two goal margin.
The Sharks headed into the final break with the momentum however that buffer evaporated in under four minutes of play in the final quarter before Peel went on to kick another five majors running away with the game.
Better performers for the Sharks were Chadd Dunscombe (20 touches, 11 tackles and 2 score involvements), Elijah Burrows (18 disposals, 2 clearances and 2 goals), Jared Filmer (4 tackles and 6 rebound 50’s), Presley Campbell (91% efficiency, 4 marks, 5 rebound 50’s) and Luke Urquhart (4 marks, 4 tackles, 4 score involvements and 2 goals).
Next up for the Sharks is Subiaco on July 9 at Leederville Oval
