Rd 16 - Colts Wrap Up
After a confidence boosting win the previous week the Colts team approached the game against West Perth with some real positivity.
West Perth went into the game sitting on top of the ladder and it was most important we were switched on from the word go, unfortunately we didn’t come to play. West Perth started the game strongly and kicked the only 4 goals for the first quarter. As a team we lacked intensity, were second to the ball and were beaten in all areas from a very well drilled side.
The second quarter the Sharks displayed some more positive football for a 10-15 minute period where we were able to hit the scoreboard with 3 goals to get us back into the game at half time.
It was important we started the third quarter well to stay in touch, but it was not to be as West Perth continued to play some polished team football.
Going into the fourth quarter it was about winning the quarter for us, but again West Perth were just too good for us running away with a big win.
It was big learning curve for the team as we just didn’t compete well enough in any key components of the game. West Perth showed us what a top side does well, and it is important for us as a group to learn from this. Overall we were well beaten in every area, couldn’t get our hands on the ball and didn’t work hard enough.
Jared Filmer, Jack Johnston and Graham Sandy all tried hard over the four quarters.
Congratulations to Ezra Jones (Canning Vale JFC) on his first Colts game.
East Fremantle now look forward to Swans in Round 18 after the BYE this week.
