A Team Awareness Round supporting TBC1D24 Research
This Saturday, May 13th East Fremantle Football Club is pleased to support the annual A Team awareness Round where East Fremantle and Subiaco Women’s teams will play the annual A Team match, 2pm at the WACA.
Both our WAFL and WAFLW Squads will wear custom A Team training shirts to bring awareness to the TBC1D24 Foundation and their efforts to fundraise to secure further research into this rare condition.
Close to our hearts is Ariella Italiano, aged 8 who was diagnosed with TBC1D24 at the age of three. Each child with TBC1D24 experiences a unique medical journey, for Ariella, this includes epilepsy, hypotonia and global developmental delay. Ariella's biggest challenge is frequent paralysis, which occurs every two to three days and will see her whole body paralysed for periods of, or the entire day.
“The A Team Round is a highlight on our playing calendar, and we’re delighted to have both our women’s and men’s teams involved this year” says EFFC WAFLW Captain Ashleigh Gomes, “The strength that Ariella shows, and her ability to overcome adversity in her day-to-day life are inspiring. It shows us there’s no challenge on the field we can’t overcome”.
“The ongoing support we receive from East Fremantle Football Club is life-changing for our charity”, says Ariella’s mother and TBC1D24 Foundation board member, Brooke Italiano, “The funds we raised from The A Team game this year will help us strengthen research projects into TBC1D24 treatments, so we can continue to support children like Ariella”.
More information on the TBC1D24 Foundation and how to donate can be found here.
This weekends footy also includes our annual Sharks district day where all our Junior Clubs are invited to attend the footy and represent their junior club in a parade.
