Teams Locked! R10 WAFL Preview
The East Fremantle Sharks will be desperate to bounce back this weekend against an in-form Swan Districts at the WACA. The Sharks have dropped the last 2 games, the latest a 38 point loss to East Perth, to slide down the table to 6th position. In what looms as a crunch game for the Sharks, they come up against a confident Swan Districts team that have won their last 2 games.
The Sharks have been forced to make 5 changes through injury, with the omitted Matt Burton making it 6 for the clash. Out are Tom Joyce (Ankle), Cody Leggett (Back), Corey Holmes (Hamstring), Milan Murdock (Concussion) and Josh Schoenfeld (Knee). Into the scene come the in-form, Austin Ball, who kicked 4 goals last week, Enrique Aiken-Featherstone, Chris Walker, Lachlan Bailey, Jackson McDonald and debutant, Josh Ritchie. Ritchie is a great story of perseverance, having overcome 2 knee reconstructions. He’s been an excellent contributor for the Reserves over the past month to force his way into the side.
The Sharks will need to curtail the influence of prolific midfielders Jesse Turner and Aiden Clarke. Both are in solid form and have to ability to provide plenty of opportunities for the Black Duck forwards. The Sharks will be looking to Hugh Dixon and Dillon O’Reilly to continue their recent strong form while the clash between the Turners, East Fremantle’s Fraser and Jesse, on the wing will be pivotal.
The East Fremantle Reserves team had an impressive 46 point win on the weekend to bring them within touching distance of the top 5. They play a strong Swans team, who got the points in Round 2, who currently sit on top of the table with 1 loss. In the Colts, the young Sharks will be looking to continue their recent good form, taking on 8th placed Swans in the earlier game. The Colts sit 3 games inside the 5 and within touching distance of the top 3.
The Colts kick off at 910am, Reserves at 1140am and the League at 210pm.
