East Fremantle Football Club recruits George Hampson
The East Fremantle Football Club is excited to announce the signing of versatile forward George Hampson today. George, who just celebrated his 25th birthday, joins East Fremantle from Subiaco Football Club, where he played 62 League games over 4 years. In 2014 George played in 19 games, averaging 19 possessions and kicking 37 goals, including 3 in Subi’s victorious Grand Final. He also represented WA in their big victory against NEAFL, kicking 2 goals.
George is a key pick up for the Sharks where his versatility to play forward, mid and off half back provides great flexibility, however it is his goal kicking ability when forward that we hope proves a great asset in 2015.
Head Coach Stephen Malaxos is delighted that we have acquired George stating “he should fit into our style of play very well. I have found him to be very enthusiastic and clear about his future direction in football. Plus I’m very happy not to have to plan how to play against him anymore.”
George addressed the Sharks playing group today and said ‘I’m really excited to join the Sharks and I’m looking forward to putting my head down at training so I can help us achieve success this year.”
George will wear the number 7 guernsey left vacant by the retiring Brett Peake. He will begin training with the group in the coming days and we look forward to seeing him in the Blue & White when the season kicks off on March 21st.
