Sharks member scores a Century
Congratulations and a very Happy Birthday to Sharks member Johanna McManus, who celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday. Representatives from the Sharks visited Johanna on Friday to wish her well and to give her a special Sharks birthday cake, card and scarf.
Johanna is a long time Sharks member and her involvement started in the 1950s when her husband Jack joined the Club. Jack became a Life Member of the Sharks and he and Johanna were here every Friday night for the members raffle. Johanna has strong family ties to the Sharks; her son John is a former player and President, nephews Con Regan, Michael Regan, Harry Neesham and Gerard Neesham all played for East Fremantle, and grandson Shaun McManus played for East Fremantle and Fremantle Dockers.
Family is very important to Johanna, she came from a family of 14 children and has 6 children; 26 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. Over 200 relatives were present yesterday to celebrate her birthday with her.
And of course Johanna received the traditional letter from the Queen!
From everyone at the Sharks, Happy Birthday Johanna!
Also a big thank you to Peta Elliott for making the wonderful cake!
