Jonathan Marsh to debut for the Pies

Saturday, August 8, 2015 - 10:19 AM

Jonathon Marsh will make his AFL debut this Saturday for Collingwood against the arch enemy in Carlton at the home of footy.

Marsh, grandson of East Fremantle legend Ray Sorrell, originally came from Margaret River to the Sharks during his development squad years, playing the odd game, before making the move to Perth to play Colts in 2013.

After representing the Sharks in the early part of that year, Marsh was selected in the WA State 18’s, then taken by the Pies at pick 77 in the 2013 draft.

Tall, explosive and highly competitive, Marsh made great strides in his first year at the Westpac Centre in 2014. Recruited as a mercurial half forward, he has been quickly moulded into a reliable key defender who uses his closing speed and long reach to great effect. A string of outstanding performances in the VFL of late has seen Marsh earn his spot in the team for this week and take on his mate from that colts year, now at the Blues, in Patrick Cripps.

Good luck to both men and from everyone at the Sharks we wish “Marshy” all the best on his debut.
