Brock O'Brien wins the 2015 Lynn Medal

Monday, October 12, 2015 - 2:10 PM

On Friday night at a gala event at ATOM Stadium, Brock O’Brien was awarded the 2015 Lynn Medal for the Fairest & Best at the East Fremantle Football Club.  Brock was a comfortable winner, polling 243 votes, 49 votes ahead of second place Jamie McNamara.

Third place went to last year’s best First Year Player Cam Eardley, while retiring Ruckman Rob Young, and Captain Rory O’Brien rounded out the top 5.

Brock spent the first half of the year in defence, but was moved into the forward line at the mid-point of the season when Brad Dodd took over the head coaching role. He earned 158 of his 253 votes in the 10 games he played in the forward line and was also awarded the Bob Johnson Medal for leading goal kicker, an award he also won in 2011 and 2012. He kicked 23 goals for the season, including two 5 goal games against Perth.

Brock was drafted by the Fremantle Dockers in 2006 from Peel Thunder and made his debut in Round 22 2007 v Port Adelaide. On his return to the WAFL Brock transferred to East Fremantle and has played a total of 82 games for the Sharks.

The Sharks are delighted to announce that Brock recently re-signed for the 2016-17 seasons.

On Friday night we also honoured the three retirees in Rob Young, Mark McGough and Bradd Dalziell with speeches from team mates and a photo tribute put together by the Club’s volunteer of the year Phil Elliott of Pixel Photography.

In the Colts, the Alan Trott Medallist was Fraser Perry, who was awarded for 2015 his form with three League games and selection in the WAFL RediMed Colts Team of the Year. Jesse Adamini, who joined the Colts squad this year from our Mid West zone, was the runner up.

The winner of the Henry Jeffery Medal for Fairest & Best in the Reserves was Aaron Holmes, with the runner up Dion Anthony.

For the first year the Club also acknowledged its women’s players at the Lynn Medal night, with the Head Coach of the Women’s team, Steph Walding, awarding the Best & Fairest to Brianna Green.

The Club would like to thank event partner Retravision for providing the televisions used on the night, Fremantle PA Hire for the AV system and all of our Trophy Donors
