Sharks Late Surge Not Enough To Defeat Demons
East Fremantle have suffered a one goal loss to Perth despite a strong finish to the match, with four extra scoring shots not enough to regain the lead in the 8.10 (58) to 10.4 (64) loss.
The Sharks once again won two of the four quarters but were undone by a straight kicking Perth side, who started the match with six goals straight in the first term.
In his 100th WAFL match, East Fremantle captain Jonathan Griffin continued his already red hot form - kicking a goal for the third consecutive game while also recording 12 disposals and 25 hit outs.
He was ably assisted by midfielder Jordan Snadden, who worked hard for his 20 disposals while recruit Cody Leggett continued to show his value, racking up 18 disposals, four marks and three tackles against his old side.
Cameron Eardley and Milan Murdock combined for 33 disposals, nine tackles, five inside 50’s and a goal while Dylan Winton and Matthew Jupp were once again impressive down back.
Up forward, Tom Bennett (14 disposals, two tackles) kicked two goals to prove he can play in multiple positions while Lachlan Bailey continued his good form up forward with two goals of his own.
East Fremantle have a well earned rest this week before taking on West Perth on the 22nd of August at the Provident Financial Oval. The Sharks will be looking to win three of their final four games and clinch a top four spot to secure a finals berth, a goal Bill Monaghan has said East Fremantle should be striving for during the pre-season.
