Welcome Zach Rankin
East Fremantle are excited to announce the signing of Zach Rankin for the 2024 season. Zach has previously played League football at Peel Thunder and comes to the club after playing local football in 2023.
The hard working Rankin has had an interrupted career, curtailed by injury. Looking for a fresh start, and a change of luck, Rankin is excited to restart his WAFL career at East Fremantle.
“After a number of injuries over multiple seasons, I made the conscious decision to step away in 2023 and prioritise my rehab and becoming a stronger and more resilient player. I’m excited to join the reigning premiers”.
Though Rankin had made some great mates at Peel, he lived in East Fremantle the past few years and had grown up as an East Fremantle supporter. Coupled with a few mates down at Shark Park, it was a pretty easy decision when selecting a club to play for.
“I’ve really enjoyed the pre-season to date. Though I spent the first few months in rehab, the past few weeks training with the main squad has been a lot of fun and I’m now starting to build relationships with the guys”.
Football Manager, Brad Dodd, believes Rankin will push for League games in 2024.
“Zach is an excellent runner, a tough and uncompromising player, who hasn’t quite had the luck needed so far to realise his potential at WAFL level. We’ve started to see glimpses of his talent at training and expect him to continually improve the more games he plays. We see him as either playing on the wing or down in defence”.
Off the field, Zach has just finished studying Environmental Science at Curtin University. He will wear the number 29 in 2024.
Welcome to the Sharks, Zach!
