R.J. LYNN
The East Fremantle League Fairest and Best Award, the Lynn Medal, is named in R.J.’s honour. R.J. was a supporter of the Club long before he took on the role of Patron in 1912 and it is doubtful if any Club in Australia has ever been able to claim a more generous patron.
Quite apart from the financial support given to the Club, it was the moral support given by his presence in the clubrooms before, during and after matches. He knew every player, invariably chatted with each in turn, and always in that quiet, hearty and gracious manner that made him so acceptable to all who knew him. R.J. never forgot his Fremantle roots. Till the end he was the kind, generous friend of the stricken and the needy. He was never so happy as when he accompanied the Club on tours or country getaways. His ready smile expressed wonderful warmth and his charming manner made him the focal point at Club gatherings.
